Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Email address, display name, password hash, and account settings.
• Date of birth, from which we derive an age band for feature limits and age-appropriate defaults.
• Messages, forum posts, reports, moderation actions, and world activity.
• Text submitted for read-aloud, which is sent to a third-party voice service to generate playback audio.
• Limited session and security data such as IP and location metadata when needed for abuse prevention.
• Subscription and transaction data such as tier, amount, currency, tax, payment status, invoice and transaction identifiers, renewal dates, cancellation state, refunds, and limited billing contact details.

Stripe and Link

Stripe processes subscription payments for Shadow Government. If you choose Link, Stripe also uses the information associated with your Link account to complete payment. Stripe or Link may collect payment method, billing, device, fraud-prevention, and transaction information under Stripe's privacy policy.

Shadow Government receives limited payment results and identifiers needed to provide access, reconcile invoices, manage renewals and cancellations, process refunds, prevent fraud, keep accounting records, and support customers. We do not receive or store your full card number or card security code.

Why we use data

• Authenticate accounts and keep the service secure.
• Provide gameplay, moderation, notifications, subscriptions, payment support, and refunds.
• Apply age-based upload review and shared-world messaging restrictions.
• Generate optional read-aloud audio.
• Investigate abuse, enforce policies, maintain financial records, and meet legal obligations.

Who can access data

Authorised staff and service providers can access only the data needed for account administration, safety, payments, support, and compliance. Transaction data is shared with Stripe and relevant financial institutions as needed to process payments and refunds.

Retention

We keep data only as long as needed for active accounts, safety, moderation, support, operations, and legal obligations. Transaction, tax, refund, and accounting records may be retained after account closure where law or legitimate financial record-keeping requires it; other retained records are deleted or anonymised where possible.

Your choices
